Neuwied in the "Active City Centres" support programme in Rheinland-Pfalz

Project:	Urban development concept in the "Active City Centres" support programme in Rheinland-Pfalz. The urban development project will lead, following a detailed situation analysis of Neuwied city centre, to an implementation-orientated plan of action that contains the measures required for achieving the defined objectives. In the foreground are strategies for reducing the vacancy rates of businesses and dwellings.
Objective:	Boosting retail trade and housing in the town centre, modernisation of buildings, improvements to the quality of the townscape, improvements to public spaces to increase the attractiveness of the shopping zone and the town-centre environment. The intended remodelling of the Rhine embankment will further serve to improve the quality of time spent in the centre and its neighbouring residential areas; strategies for dealing with vacancies and for activating inactive spaces should be devised and the creation of private initiatives as a neighbourhood community should be more closely investigated.
