A highlight for the town centre - the new arts centre in Lich

Objective:	To establish an arts centre for the town of Lich, including a public library, city archive, registry office and tourist information. This will send an important and positive message to the residents of the town, at the end of a successful refurbishment programme.
Location:	Kirchenplatz 12 and Kirchgasse 14 in Lich
Foundation:	Appointing Nassauische Heimstätte as trustee for the town of Lich and as the client, in coooperation with Büxel Artichtects of Lich.
Development period:	Start of construction: October 2009; Expected completion: December 2010
Cost:	Approx. 1 million euro total building costs plus fittings

The mix of new with modernised old buildings optimally combines several aspects:

On the one hand, the new facility will replace the small existing mobile library and will be increased by approx. 17,000 media titles, thanks to the support of the 'Hessische Fachstelle für öffentliche Bibliotheken' (Hessian department of public libraries). On the other hand, the old 'Bürgersaal' (civic hall) now caters for the needs of the disabled, thanks to a new lift.

In addition, the new cultural meeting place has a central location, close to other cutural institutions and the Protestant Marienstiftskirche.
