Children’s dreams come true
The times in which "latchkey children" must spend boring afternoons on the streets will be over in the near future in Weilburg: Here, an art nouveau villa should become a "house for children". It will offer children of up to 12 years of age a lot of room and options.
| Goal: | Improvement of the childcare situation, particularly for families on the Westerwald side of the inner-city |
| Location: | Weilburg, Wilhelmstraße 13, restoration region “Weilburger Brückenköpfe” |
| Basis: | Assignment of Nassauischen Heimstätte as the redevelopment trustee |
| Development: | 2004: Purchase of the property through Nassauische Heimstätte decided by the magistrate and city hall assembly, temporary housing for parts of the local authorities; 2007: Assignment of the magistrate for the submission of a concept for the "house for children"; 2008: Decision for the execution of the measure by the city hall assembly; 2009: Beginning of construction |
| Financing: | The total costs for the project are about 1.10 million Euros. An authorization from the Hessen Ministry of Social Affairs for childcare financing exists so that further money is available in regards to the urban redevelopment. |
